Lunch was relatively successful on Thursday but fruit is still getting the shaft. Not as badly shafted as vegetables, but the shaft nonetheless. She ate her chicken and pudding and drank her juice, but no strawberries or oranges were touched. Oh well. At least she ate her cold chicken fingers (yes, cold chicken fingers--her choice). And ketchup. That counts as a vegetable, right? She drank lots and lots of water (regular water, not bubble water!)
When we asked how camp was she said, "It was good. Let's see. what did we do again? Tower, CHECK! Farm, CHECK! Music, CHECK! Back to Hillside, CHECK!"
She said she did not climb the tower but 4 kids did this time, up from two from last time, and again, all were girls! Chicks rule! At first she wouldn't tell us which animals she saw during 'farm' (I still can't get over the activity names) The counselor said they played w/ guinea pigs (which are neither pigs nor from Guinea, but I digress) and Alex said she saw chicks and bunnies and more bunnies and chickens and an owl and horses and a llama. Did she really see a llama? Unclear. She said that even though the owl says "hooo-hoooo" he didn't say anything today but he wasn't sleeping because he moved.
Now I know you are all wondering....how is Bumbo? Alex said "Bumbo wasn't at camp today b/c he throwed up in the pool yesterday. He went to the doctor and then went home so he could feel better." Not sure where she is getting her intel, but it sounds pretty reliable.... Let's hope today is a better day for Bumbo.
They made paper hula skirts because as I predicted (I'm a genius!), tomorrow is hawaiian dress-up day (remember? necklace + skirt + volcano = hawaii). Too bad she glued the front and back of the skirt together. D'oh! Curses....foiled again....
Her counselor said she is doing really well but didn't want to climb the tower and she didn't want to push it and turn her off from the activity altogether. There's always next week.... She will climb that tower by summer's end. It's her Everest!
Today she has "Sandcastles" which i think means all the kids roll around in the sandpit to see who can get the dirtiest. Alex ALWAYS wins. She's very competitive. She also has woodshop and pool today. Will Bumbo be back? Will Alex come home from the dustbowl looking like pigpen? Will we hose her off in the driveway? All will be answered in the next installment....
