Days 3 and 4

On Wednesday Alex had archery and came home with both eyes so it was a success! She lost her hat, but gained a hello kitty tank top (adult sized so it's really a dress). When I asked Alex where she got it, she said the pool lady gave it to her as a gift. Now, on the one hand, i would not put it past her to not tell a counselor if she received (mistakenly) someone else's Hello Kitty anything. On the other hand, Alex does not use the word "gift" she uses the word "present". Also, the shirt is adult sized, not kiddie sized, so it's not like they could have given it to her accidentally thinking it was hers. And finally, she told the story so earnestly and was so happy about it (and conversely was so devastated when I asked if it belonged to someone else) that she is either a diabolical genius able to lie extremely convincingly, or the pool lady really gave her the top as a gift. We will keep you apprised of further developments. After pool time she decided that (I believe the counselor said "insisted") she put on her cold weather outfit (kept in her backpack for nippy days) rather than her shorts and tank top. At least we are not the only ones she rolls over. I think they also played tug-o-war although that's not what they called it. Hippies.

Thursday

When I asked Alex how camp was she said "It was GREAT!" They had "Tower" during which the kids climb the tall tower. Alex did not climb the tall tower. In fact, Alex said only two kids climbed it (both of them girls!). I am hoping that she climbs the tower before summer's end. She will ride down the driveway full speed on her bike without using her brakes, but would not climb the tower. They also had "Farm" (i know, clever titles for the activities) and she saw horses and a chicken who apparently "did not like the white". Sounds racist. Stupid chickens.

Today the kids wear red, white and blue for the holiday. Alex was very excited that not only is her outfit red, white and blue, but also her bathing suit. You've got to co-ordinate! (Barry will probably be the only one to get that reference.) I believe today is also woodshop. Fingers crossed that she comes back with all of hers....
